After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?
Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

The tsunami struck with devastating force, consuming entire towns in its wake. Buildings crumbled like sandcastles, and the screams that followed was deafening. Thousands were trapped beneath rubble, their fate precarious. The severity of the disaster was unprecedented, forcing survivors to grapple a future forever altered.

Dreadful Day Ever
It all started with my case of bedhead hair. I couldn't figure it to look decent. As I was dashing out the door, I fell and with a thud all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was extremely running behind for school.
I arrived. My {boss|teacher|was absolutely furious. I managed to explain, but it was pointless.
The rest of the day was even worse. was a catastrophe. here I get anything done.
By the time I reached my destination, I was utterly defeated. This day, this horrific day will be forever remembered as the worst day ever.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
